Dyfed Horse Farm, Pembrokeshire
Its been a good 6 years since we first stumbled across this glorious place and there is not one day that we regret it! Infact 90% of the year we are itching to drive down to Ceredigion and relax in the beautiful countryside that it has to offer.Growing up my girls have always loved horses and in 2016 I finally had a car that was big enough to pack in camping equipment and head off anywhere that we felt like. But where? We had no clue of what anywhere in the UK had to offer or how far we could go without the girls feeling travel sick so booking a holiday really was quite scarey incase I got it wrong.
I spent a few weeks looking for something that would be near to horses, which is when I stumbled across Dyfed Horse Shire Farm and low and behold they had a field for camping. Not knowing what to expect I booked a few days there and then we would move on a bit further south or so I thought however when we got to the second site it turned out to be no more than 20 mins away from the horse farm oops!
This didn't matter to much as we fell in love with the area and the second site allowed us to explore even more of what the area had to offer as it backed onto MWNT beach which is quite possibly one of the best UK beaches I have ever been to, to date.
Anyway, back to dyfed horse farm.. this wonderful place is reasonably priced and has so much to offer for your horse loving family. When you arrive you drive down a long road passing multiple shires out in the field where you will arrive at the front office. Staff are super welcoming and will show you to your tent pitch. There is electric hookup which I do recommend if you have small children, but do be quick as these pitches go fast.
Once you're set up you have free access to the farm and all areas. Throughout the day they have lots of activities on for the kids, horse and cart rides, tractor rides, shire display and talk, donkey grooming and so much more. There is also a park, crazy golf, go carts, trampolines and a huge indoor sandpit.
If your feeling peckish and you don't want to set your tent kitchen up, don't worry they have a lovely farm shop that does good home made food and cakes. We always end up in there on rainy days for a hot cupper and a bowl of chips.
Its such a fantastic little site where you wake up in the morning to the sounds of Hooves playing in the field followed by the donkeys having a good shout. Its so refreshing to see the kids laughing and giggling in the great outdoors.
We have been going every year since 2016 and have met many horses such as Ed who is now a drum horse in the army now called "Apollo". He was the reason I fell in love with horses!
There is so much to do within 20 minutes of the farm and if you don't want to drive there is a local bus that stops outside of the site and takes you right into the heart of the town.
So, my verdict is.. if you dont mind getting a little dirty and want to reconnect with nature and horses then this is definitely worth a little visit or holiday to, you won't regret it.
